MEET KWAME ACQUAAH - PASSPORT'S MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR and
DISTRICT'S PEACE COMMITTEE CHAIR
If you joined Passport in the last six months, Kwame was probably your first exposures to our fabulous and fun club. In fact, that is exactly how Kwame describes us to all new members. Get to know Kwame, his passion for life once immigrating to California, and his passion for peace in our world and how he is affecting change.

When Kwame Acquaah joined our club last year he immediately volunteered to be our Membership Chair. Our board of director’s was more than happy to grant his request. He seemed like a dedicated Rotarian, and they feared that if they waited too long, he might change his mind. Kwame has proven to be an extraordinary ambassador for our club. He is the first contact for people inquiring about us. Kwame’s positive attitude and extensive knowledge of our club shows potential members what a great club we are and lets them know they will be welcomed if they decide to join.
Kwame is passionate about the well-being of others and the environment. He created TransAtlantic Environmental Inc.-Light the World Campaign. It is a non-profit organization that donates free solar lights and books to remote villages in Ghana. He is the Life Group Leader for Harvest Church and CEO of DIDIA. He co-hosts a radio program every Sunday called “Songs of Praise Gospel.”
Kwame immigrated to California in 1980. In a short time he obtained his Bachelor of Science In Business Administration-Accounting, a Master of Science in Business AdministrationManagement Information Science, and a Doctorate in Management Organizational Leadership. He is commonly known as Dr. Kwame. Kwame is an avid tennis player, a short story writer, a poet, an artist and a graphic artist. Kwame and his wife Ivy are the proud parents of three children Angela, Danielle and Ivan. They were recently blessed with their first grandchild.
Kwame is also Chairperson for the Rotary Peace Committee. Peace can mean different things to different people but in Rotary, peace stands for the commitment to make a positive impact in our communities and around the world. The building of peace and its impact depends on each one of us as we work together in our own way to engage each other positively.
One of the pillars of Rotary International is the promotion and building of peace in as many communities as possible. Through service projects and community engagements, Rotary has and continues to foster understanding while providing communities with the skills and resources to resolve conflicts.
In our Rotary District 5180, we believe that offering an opportunity for members of our community to constructively engage with each other is a great way to start. In our upcoming Rotary Peace Symposium, our theme will be Peace Talks. Our objective is to open the door to talk about Peace openly and collaborate at a local level about practical ways to effect change in our district.
Working with the Rotary Action Group for Peace, and in partnership with California State University’s Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution (CAPCR), the Multi-Cultural Committee of the City of Elk Grove, local Law Enforcement, School Districts, and You, we look forward to advancing peace and turning our ambitious idea into life-changing realities for communities in our district.
