MEET MONIQUE HARRIS!

At age 15, I had very long, straight blonde hair, big brown eyes, long eyelashes, weighed 89 pounds soaking wet and was kidnapped in a casbah in Tunis, Tunisia to be sold for the highest bid. I was on a 3 week cruise through the Mediterranean with my family, American Medical Association members and a few recently retired 49er football players. We were taking a tour of the markets, when all of a sudden I was swept away from the group by many young children. Our tour guide knew this was a serious situation that required quick action, so he got two retired 49er football players, a few large doctors and two tour guides to search for me. Lucky one of the guides heard children making noise and saw us going down a very dark, small alley way with lots of doors. The next thing I remember is sitting on a tour bus with a portion of my long blonde hair cut off and my leather purse with cut marks on the strap. I was crying and in shock, when about an hour later a message came to my father that a wealthy king sought to buy me.

I grew up a Sacramento area native and worked many different jobs over the years.  While attending Sac State, I worked for a pizza company, then moved onto Pacific Bell, SBC and AT&T before ending my phone career at Lucent Technologies.  I was an aerial applicator (crop duster) and worked as a manager at Ferry-Morse Home Gardening - 150 year old Seed Company.

I met my husband, David in 1990 and he was a charter member of Roseville-Sunrise Rotary.  He introduced me to a new world of giving, helping, caring and being with  likeminded business individuals that are friends for life. We married in 1993 and in 1996, with other partners, David and I started CMD Products “Grass Gator”.  We manufacture, assemble, package and ship from Sparks, Nevada attachment devices that fit onto weed trimmers to make trimming and edging your property easier than the normal bump and feed. We sell into DIY Stores such as Menards, Farms stores and Hardware Stores in US, Canada, Europe, Australia. David developed younger onset Alzheimer’s in his mid-50’s unknown to us what was wrong at the time. In 2012 I took over as President of CMD Products “Grass Gator”. My David passed in October 2017.

I enjoy Scuba Diving, Horses (breeding foundation quarter horse mare’s total of 7 foals), gardening (vegetable, fruit trees and rose gardening), hiking, and lots of traveling. At one time David and I owned a ranch with 42 head of cattle, 6 horses, 32 chickens, a turkey, ducks and geese in a pond, 6 cats and a Yorkie (Chanel) who thinks she is a ranch dog.

I am truly blessed!
