PRESIDENTIAL THOUGHTS
Greetings Rotary Passport Club Member!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROTARY PASSPORT CLUB – Hard to believe, but it has been one year since the Rotary Passport Club of District 5180 was chartered (March 20, 2015 to be exact!). We’ve come a long way since those 20 brave Charter members stood at the abyss saying, “We want a club like this!” Since that time, (and over 2000 service hours later) almost 60 additional people have said the same thing and joined our ranks. I can’t wait to see what the next 50 years brings. J
SURVEY FOR A BIRTHDAY – Since we are a club that doesn’t require regular weekly meeting attendance, it’s hard to get a pulse on how all you folks are doing. I want to make sure that we are delivering on our promises of service opportunities. Additionally, I want to continue to add features to this club that you, the valued member, want. So, you will be receiving a Survey Monkey survey today. It is only 10 questions long (all multiple choice) and one space for open remarks. Please take 5 minutes and give us some feedback…even if it is just to say, “Great Job, Guys! Keep up the good work!”. sd
OUR FIRST NETWORKING SOCIAL IS MARCH 24, 2016! – Our first purely fun, networking social event will take place on March 24th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Cheese Louise, located at 400 Vernon Street in Downtown Roseville across from City Hall. Our host will be none other than your President Elect, Dwight Chambers. Come, wear your pin and badge and get ready to mix and mingle. (sorry about the last newsletter… the link was incomplete…it’s all there now!)
ROTARY 101 – You will soon be receiving an invite to the upcoming DISTRICT 5180 TRAINING ASSEMBLY – April 2, 2016 from 8 am to 1:30 pm at Inderkum High School in Natomas. I just finished my PowerPoint for Rotary 101, a “what’s it all about” session for Rotarians that are NEW to our District in the last 12 months. I will be teaching in the Theater during the first breakout session, and I will be joined by District Membership Chair, Ray Ward. Please plan on coming and having a great time learning about Rotary and all the fun things you can do now and in the future. Lunch and registration are FREEEEEE!
DISTRICT 5180 CONFERENCE – The District Conference for District 5180 will be May 19 through 22 at the Berkeley Marina DoubleTree!
SERVICE PROJECTS – See The Upcoming Events Calendar – Our Service Director, JoAnne Tanner, has tirelessly filled our Upcoming Events Calendar with every event she can lay her hands on. If you are feeling that need to reach out and help a local Rotary club with an upcoming service project, check it out!
TURN IN – Service Reports for February (or the Year to Date) – Please continue to turn in these reports as soon as you have hours.
That’s all for now.
Yours in Rotary,
President Mike
