PRESIDENTIAL THOUGHTS

Greetings Rotary Passport Club Member!

WHAT A “NEW” YEAR CAN BRING – All things NEW, of course: new members, new officers, new events, new excitement!!!

Let’s start with NEW members.  My hope was that the Club would have 75 members by the end of the calendar year.  Well, we are close.  We actually have 69 members through our gates with 4 pending dues payment (for those counting out there, that would have been 73).  I still believe we will cross the century mark by the end of my term, and quite possibly head toward our insane first year goal of 150.  If you know of anyone that might benefit from our format that exhibits the traits of a good Rotarian, please refer them to Bill Wittich.  Tell them there is a Starbucks in their future if they do.   J

Our new members this past month are:

Eddie Alvarado – Account Executive, PGE – Sponsor: Connie Correia (Roseville)
Karen Baur – Independent Medical Sales – Sponsor: Mike Reinero (Passport)
Dwight Chambers – CEO, DNS Group LLC – Sponsor: JoAnne Tanner (Passport)
Darrin Guttman – President, Propel Fundraising – Sponsor: Mike Reinero (Passport)
James Simmons – Retired Electrical Aircraft Engineer – Sponsor: Ed Trujillo (Passport)
David Sobon – Owner, David Sobon Auctions – Sponsor: Dwight Chambers (Passport)

We will induct them at our Membership Mixer on February 1st.

We also have new officers and directors that were ratified by the board this past month.

Christie Harrison – Club Administration Director – Christie will be scheduling and planning our Membership Mixers and other Club events.

Sharon Mowry will be a Club Administration Co-Director (non-voting Board member) working with Christie in planning upcoming events.  When these ladies agreed to help out, they gave this Club President a wonderful Christmas present!!

David Kenitzer – Public Image Director – David is already a computer, internet and media wiz in his daytime, working life.  Having him readily volunteer to help our Club get better visibility in 2016 will really help us achieve our membership goals!!

Dwight Chambers – President-Elect – Many of you already know Dwight.  He is a former member of the Point West Club and has been a Passport Club Supporter (er, Over-achiever!) since we started!  I am so pleased to have Dwight following me as the second president of this great new Club.

JoAnne Tanner – President-Elect-Elect – Following Dwight in succession for the Presidency will be JoAnne Tanner, our current Club Service Director.  Most all of you know JoAnne’s passion for Rotary, Service and the Passport Club.  She will make a great Club President!!

With all of this “new blood” coming into the Club, the board felt like we should have more to do on the Vocational/Networking side of things.  So, starting after our February Mixer, we will have TWO Happy Hour Networking Socials between each Membership Mixer (the first two being in March and April).  These Socials will be a chance for Passport members, their guests, and even other District 5180 Rotarians to get together and socialize at a local restaurant, pub, or sponsoring place of business.  These Socials will be free admission (you pay for your own drinks and food if you wish).  I hope you will take advantage of this purely social time to get to know other Rotarians and what they do.

Whatever you are doing for New Year Eve celebrations, please keep it fun and keep it safe.  I am looking forward to seeing you all and continuing to serve as your President in 2016 (even if it is for only 6 more months).  Happy New Year!!

Yours in Rotary,

President Mike
