November is my favorite month of the year and not just because it's my birthday month.  November brings a change to our time (Hello Daylight Savings) and weather, which in turn causes us to slow down and reflect on our lives.  Here's what I'm thankful for this year:

  • My family who are spread far and wide but still make time for visits and chats on the phone
  • Mike Reinero, Glenn Fong, Ray Ward & Barry Kalar for creating the most amazing Rotary Club format!  With their help we now have 29 Passport Clubs in the world and RI recognizes our format and promotes it as an option
  • Having the opportunity to lead a club within an organization that not only has an impact within my own community but has a global impact
  • Megan Ham for being a fabulous AG who is always there to answer questions
  • David Kenitzer, Sara Thornros, Eric James, Al Frumkin, Christie Harrison, Sheri Katz, and Bill Bowen for going above and beyond for our club.
  • To all our members that are making a difference in our communities and around the world whether it's through giving time or giving money.  You all work on so many amazing projects and have wonderfully generous hearts
I hope this week finds you enjoying time with your family and friends all the while reflecting on all the things in your life that make you feel thankful.    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Foundation Meeting
November 14th Club Meeting

What a wonderful meeting we had on November 14th!  Since November is Foundation month, Al Frumkin, our Foundation Director, created a program that highlighted how the Rotary International Foundation affects those here in our community and around the world.

  • Bob Mutchler talked about his experience having had polio at such a young age and what it was like to be in an iron lung.
  • Barry Kalar described his experience working with Rotaplast and specifically with a woman thanking Rotary for helping her child to no longer be an outcast
  • Kwame Acquaah spoke about why it's important to him to provide lights to villages in Ghana
  • Jen & Alex Cavalari highlighted their nonprofit that has used Rotary grants to provide clean water & lights to those in Honduras
Needless to say, there was not a dry eye in the house!  Continue reading for pictures and more information from the evening.
