For TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK, Passport One brought in both breakfast goodies to the staff one day and lunch to the staff the next to show our support for these hard working teachers and staff.   We also delivered the 3-D Printers (2) that our club was able to donate through a District Grant.  These printers will be used to help encourage good behavior in the kids and a curiosity of science, engineering and math.  Passport One is Getting It Done!
Our Passport One Members in Action in the Community!  
Congratulations to Passport One Member and Past President, Megan Ellinghouse!  Megan was just announced as District Governor Designate and will serve as District Governor for Rotary District 5180 in the 2025-2026 year.  We had a wonderful meeting full of Current, Past and Future District Governors on hand to make the announcement and watch the club celebrate!
A Great Start to 2023!
We received a big thank you from the teachers and students at John Morse Theraputic Center for our gifts at Christmas this year.  We also had a bittersweet moment with President David Kenitzer handing out a Paul Harris Fellows to Leigh-Ann Reinero and Jim Quinney.  Leigh-Ann is on her journey back to Florida and this was Jim's last meeting with the club as he is moving across country to be closer to family.  We wish Jim much success and happiness & look forward to seeing Leigh-Ann on her return trip!  We also heard about the plans for the new Zoo in Elk Grove from Community Engagement Coordinator, Andrea Haverland.  So many new cool exhibits and animals in the works!
Passport One Did It Again!
 
In our continued effort to work with John Morse Therapeutic School, we provided all the kids at the school with gifts on their "Santa Wish List".  Our members really stepped up to help these kids have a magical Christmas.  In addition to the gifts, we also had a fun holiday party with a gift exchange game and prize for best costumes!

In October we shared all the fun we had at the AfterShock Festival. It's always inspirational to be able to volunteer for an event but also find it to be rewarding for our Rotary Passport One Club. A big round of gratitude for every member that helped work the event. 
 
Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders who work together, become friends, and dedicate their time and talent to tackle the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Rise Against Hunger

The members of the Rotary Passport one pulled up their sleeves in order join the fight against hunger. They were able to make an impact by filling food bags and partnering with Rise Against Hunger. It's an amazing way to connect with community and give back. 
Rotary Passport One Rocks Aftershock

Aftershock 2022 rocked the Sacramento area with musical acts such as Muse, Evanescence, and Slipknot energizing massive crowds in Discovery Park.  Rotary Passport One's Adam Campbell has played a key part in the festival over the years as he helped local nonprofits fundraise by working the bars located throughout the venue.  This year we had a strong team of Rotarians who poured beer, mixed cocktails, and kept water flowing for the fans over the four-day music festival.  Together we raised more than $3,000 for our club foundation to help with local education, health, and youth projects.  If you are interested in helping the Sacramento community, please feel free to join us at an upcoming meeting.
Beth Ellinthorpe Honored as Top Chef

Our very own Rotarian Beth Ellinthorpe was recognized by District 5180 Governor Karen Cendros as a "Top Chef" as one of Rotary Passport One's finest and her commitment to service.  Beth was unable to attend, but we are continually proud of the difference she makes for the community and her leadership to our club.  Rotary believes in encouraging and fostering high ethical standards in business and professions.  Beth balances her work as a realtor with hours of commitments to serving the community.  We appreciate the honesty, integrity, and expertise she brings to us in both capacities.
A Visit from Kwame!

Earlier this summer, Rotary Passport One was proud to welcome back one of our long-term members, and current honorary member, Kwame Acquaah.  He told us of the wonderful service work he is doing in Ghana with both his own nonprofit and the club that is currently claiming him as a member (we refuse to say that he is not a current member of our club).  Rotary considers honorary membership in a club to be reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through meritorious service and furtherance of Rotary's ideals.  Kwame may have moved to another continent, but he shows us that he lives and breathes Rotary through his commitment to service above self.
