Saving Lives - Mid Year Review

Wow, you have all been busy little volunteers!  Michael Reinero presented an update to the board last week that shows that our volunteer hours are up 3% from last year...Congratulations!!!
30% of our membership has reported volunteer hours, and of those hours 1/3 represent self directed volunteer time and 2/3 represent Rotary volunteer hours.

Total hours volunteered by Passport Rotarians are 993.5, which equals 24.8 lives saved!!

Let's keep up the momentum! It's never too late to submit your hours.  All we ask is for each member to volunteer 40 hours per year for either Rotary or a cause that hits close to home for you.
Just click on the link below to make your hours count!

To see where you stand with your hours, the report is listed under Downloadable Files on the left of the Newsletter.

Member Spotlight - Angie Dixon

Meet Angie Dixon, a member of Rotary Passport since August of 2016. Given her job as the Executive Director for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, she had the pleasure of speaking to many Rotary clubs in the district and always wished she had the time to join.  Then her friend, and fellow Passport Member, Scott Clark told her about Rotary Passport and she was sold.  It fit right into her busy schedule that includes, besides work, running around 3 teen age daughters who are fully invested in either sports or theater.  Angie shares their passions and is just as involved by sitting on the board of the soccer clubs, helping to produce children musicals at Rocklin Theater, or just being a parent volunteer for school.

Angie's first love, however, is golf and she is currently the Executive Director for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento. She first started with the organization 33 years ago, but not as a staff member, as a participant. Angie was in the inaugural class of Little Linkers in 1983 and continued in the program throughout high school as a volunteer. She earned a full scholarship for golf to University of Washington and majored in Business. After college, she worked as a golf professional and volunteered with the program. In 2001, she was hired as a Program Manager and in 2011, became Executive Director bringing a wealth of experience from the program side to her role. Angie thoroughly enjoys working with The First Tee of Greater Sacramento and furthering its mission of making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

About The First Tee of Greater Sacramento: The First Tee of Greater Sacramento has positively impacted the young people in our area since 1983. The First Tee of Greater Sacramento runs youth development programs throughout the year, reaching over 18,500 young people annually. The First Tee of Greater Sacramento uses golf as a vehicle to teach core values, life skills and healthy habits to young people and help give them the skills they need to flourish in their lives today and in the future. The First Tee of Greater Sacramento serves juniors from the ages of 3-18 with a variety of programs including summer camps, after school outreach, Special Olympics, adaptive physical education classes, a competitive junior golf tour, Swing Club for the Blind, National School Program and much more.
